Bouviers In Obedience:I am a strong proponent of Obedience training (& more!), and to this end, I offer this 'Obedience' page to Tina Clifford, as she has such vast experience training & 'working' her Bouviers. Tina owns 'Bach' (CH Hawkridge Symphony on Fire DD CD RN CGN), son to my Dante.
In Tina's words:
I am currently serving as a Prairie
Director for the
Bouvier des Flandres Club of Canada.
Previously,
I served as a director for the Alberta Bouvier des Flandres Club, for
16 years.
I have owned Bouviers for 23 years. I currently have Macy 7 yrs & Bach (who is out of Dante, Jacquie's boy). Sadly, my old boy Von passed away this past summer (2013).
I
believe that a tired dog is a
happy dog. To this end, we compete
in CKC, AKC & UKC Obedience,
Rally, Carting, Tracking and Conformation.
When not 'competing', we 'unwind' mountain biking,
roller blading,
backpacking & enjoy lots of walking.
Bach is a versatile boy. Here he is demonstrating carting. (You can see more photos of Bach & his achievements here.)
I think all Bouvs should go to basic Obedience; they are big, strong dogs & need good manners. They are not the 'happy go lucky' Labrador Retriever and need LOTS of socialization. Bouvs are cautious about strangers, protective about there home & bond very closely with their owners. Bouvs are a working breed that need a lot to do! This talented boy is full of tricks!
I have titled all my dogs with
conformation Championships, but I am
more proud of their working titles.
They take time & effort!
I shave all my dogs down after they
receive their Championship
titles. Long hair is hot & messy. I love
grooming BUT I love tracking & mountain
biking in the mud even more.
